GPA Inaugurates 8 trailers worth over 50 million dalasis

The Gambia Ports Authority on Saturday inaugurated eight tractor trailers for carrying out operational functions in the ports.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Lamin Touray, Deputy Direction of traffic operation and logistic described the trailers as a clear indication of the ports commitment in responding to the operational needs.

“I want to assured our customers that we are ready to face the challenges for the expecting growth in traffic,” he said.

According to the port’s director of technical services Ousainou Jobe, for a port to function immensely the necessary implements and infrastructures must be there.

“This is the only port Authority Gambia has, and the demands are always high, therefore we want to assure the country that we will continue to do our best in terms of rendering good service to our customers,” he said.

The trailers are very expensive; therefore, we are assuring the people that the operators are well train to operate the machines in the best way, he said.

Anthony Kujabi, deputy director of technical services, said: “We are responsible for the maintenance of the equipment in the Ports”.

He said the machines cost a lot of money, adding that therefore we will go by the manufacturer recommendations in terms of maintenance.
