By Yusupha Jobe

Human right activists Madi Jobarteh has said former President Yahya cannot go free off his crimes and that he must face justice.

“We wanted to clearly inform President Barrow and his government that Yayah Jammeh is no more an ordinary citizen who is going to come to this country and go home to sit freely without facing any prosecution,”he said

He added: “so tell President Barrow that Yahya Jammeh is no ordinary citizen like you and me. He had all legal and political authority to protect the rights and dignity of each and every Gambian. So who has they put to justice for the murder of Deyda Hydara, Solom Sandeng, Korro Cessay, Fafa Nyang ,School children and many other victims. A person who sits at the head of the state that supposed to protect the citizens take weapons to kill then the head of that country is no ordinary citizen. So Jammeh is not going to come home and sit like an ordinary citizen.”

Mr Jobarteh was speaking at a peaceful procession organized by the Gambia center for victims of human rights violations over the weekend demanding the government of the Gambia to provide justice to victims suffered under the regime of former President Yayah Jammeh stated that the government should right now issue an arrest warrant against former President to bring him back to the country or face the law at the International court of justice or any part of the world.

“We want the government of the Gambia to issue an arrest warrant right now to go to Equatorial Guinea and tell them to bring back Yayah Jammeh or put into trial in their country, if they cannot let them send him back to the Gambia or to a third country,” he said.

He slam the APRC party of recent protest requesting the return of their party leader to the country stating that such protest needs not to take place as former president Yahya Jammeh is no ordinary citizen who can back home and stay freely without facing any justice.

The APRC party needs not to protest to demand the return of their leader to the Gambia because if he comes back he will be as no ordinary person and face justice, he said.
