Gambia Centre for Human Rights Violations will stage a protest to demand Jammeh to justice on 25 January as they frowned on APRC’s call for former president Yahya Jammeh’s return. The victims described the call a mockery for victims.

Thousands of pro-Jammeh supporters took to the street to demand for his return.

Speaking at a press conference on Monday, Sheriff M. Kijera chairman VC board of director said: “it’s been three years we ousted dictatorship and installed a government of the people until today we continue to confront to be confronted by crime APRC party ever getting involving and shamelessly in denial of crime that goes against human right violation which is committed by Yaya Jammeh.”

“The victim’s community appreciates the support of the international communities and steps taken by the government of the Gambia to address this violation with the setting of TRRC. We   believe the time has come for each and every citizen to come to stand up to demand more practical measure to be undertaken by the government to bring Yaya Jammeh to justice,” he said.

The minister of justice has restored hope and confident of Jammen’s victims that justice shall be serve as he spoke with concern as the VC are proud with government strong position, he said.

Adama Jallow national coordinator said: “we may recall that the Gambia went on 22years of dictatorship within which Gambians and non-Gambians where torture, killed and victimized in so many ways.”

It is highly insensitive to the suffering of the victims when through in Jammeh’s rule by given the APRC a permit to demand the return of Jammeh which is undermining all the transitional justice in the Gambia, he added.

According to him, the victim centre has been working to ensure that victims are made a priority in the transitional justice period and that is the right and their right.

He further said the VC will never sit back and allow the victims for 22years under Jammeh rule to be mock at as they continue to advocate the right of the victims.

“We will continue to work with local and international communities to ensure that the never again slogan is a reality”, he alluded.
