Market vendors Fears 3years Jotna Protest

Serekunda market vendors on Thursday   expressed concerns on the propose protest to be organize by   3 years Jotna” (meaning three has reached), on the impact that might affect their business.

Speaking to Momodou Jallow a business man at Serekunda market, 3years jotna terrified so many vendors to an extend that, some of them have stop importing stuffs and trying to empty their shop for the safety of the business.

“Gambians should be very mindful and follow the constitution because no protest  is minor especially in such cases and no one can estimate the power of a crime where  it start and end,” he said.

Jallow urged Gambians not to listen their brothers and sisters in Europe because at the end, they are going to be the ones to suffer.

Jallow pointed out that if this 3years happen to be a thing of reality, so many businesses will be affected and that will affect the economic growth of the country noting that 50% of the country economic has to do with business he lamented.

“If a crime occurs in this country, no one is spare and no origination is spared. The Gambia is a small peaceful country that’s recommended world-wide. And we are presently going through a hard time in our economic system, “he noted.

He urged all politicians and youths that are behind this 3years Jotna  to step back and follow the legal procedures which is in the  constitution that  2021 is going to be a free and fair election

Binta Ceesay, a vegetable seller said this 3years Jotna has make their business so complicated and the earning is very poor. Ceesay said that, selling vegetables is where she purchases her daily source of income and if anything should come up in December; her life will totally be at confusion.

According to her, so many people are buying in whole sale as a reserve in case of anything but where poor people will get such cash to buy in whole as a reserve. “Imagine someone that’s working for the whole day just to have D500 and the need of D5, 000 arises, where he/she will get it from,” she said.

According to her, some imported goods from   neighbouring country are still coming in the country but vendors are afraid to import and whole sales buyers are also afraid to buy, revealing that  the price of good has increase which is another challenges for them.

Sulayman Njie also a business man said, the situation at the market is getting worst by day. Prices of food stuffs are increasing due to this 3years jotna. He said, government should take a step especially the president.

“We have voted for him in peace so if coalition agreement should come up, he should come out and address the nation in a peaceful way,”, he said.

Njie said right now he is no more buying in whole sale because he wants to secure his business.
