Supporting the needy children in schools for accessibility of relevant school materials, the BelGambian Dream Foundation recently donated some learning materials to some children in various schools.

Among the donated items include books, toys, clothes, food stuffs among other essential materials that would enhance children education and performance in school.

BelGambian Dream Foundation is a charitable organization registered in Belgium but based in The Gambia.

Member of the foundation, Suzanne Mortier said the aim and objective of the foundation is to help needy children especially orphans.

She noted that their foundation chosen to help Gambian school children due to the love her family has for the country and it is “one of the reasons we are investing in the educational sector.”

So far, she asserted that they are having 25 different parents sponsoring about 25 children in the Gambia. These children they are sponsoring, she said, are orphans. “And another twenty-five are on the waiting list for sponsorship.”

She emphasized that education is not a privilege but a right and every child has the right to be educated though some are still not privilege to get it.

Abdoulie Ceesay, National Assembly member for old Yundum Constituency who is one of the beneficiaries expressed delight over the gesture. He affirmed that about five children in his constituency are benefitting from the sponsorship program adding that the initiative is benevolent and timely.

He went further that the government cannot do it alone therefore called on other philanthropists to emulate the foundation and come forward to support the needy children.

Lamin Sonko the Coordinator for the Foundation expressed similar sentiment. He said the foundation is a non-profit making organization that every beneficiary is visited regularly in order to see and access their improvement.

Nyima Conteh a sponsor child and pupil of Methodist Academy thanked her sponsored parent through the foundation. She assured her sponsored parent of making use of other materials given her judiciously.
