GRA Boss calls for Respect   in Institutions

Yankuba Darboe, Commissioner General Gambia Revenue Authority (GRA), has urged on civil servant in particular to displayed “respect” for “hierarchy” in any institution to better leave a “legacy” for the future generation.

He made the remarks at a farewell ceremony for four GRA senior customs officers who retired last Friday after 25years to 30 years in-service.

The four retirees officials are namely; Alieu Ceesay, commissioner of Customs, Awa Jallow, senior cashier, Sally Foon, senior private secretary and Kabiro Dampha, senior customs officer.

“Even in the Animal Kingdom there is hierarchy, and every institution has a governing structure that needs to be respected,” Commissioner Darboe pointed out.

He stressed that there is a need to respect hierarchy and authorities in all institutions in, adding that this lead to success.

He described   legacy as one of the most important tool that human can use to inspire the future generation.

He described the four retirees as very committed, hardworking, and socialist and all left a legacy at the GRA due to their invaluable contribution not only to GRA but to the country.

According to him, retirees started from scratch to the ladder with a high respect for hierarchy that contributed immensely in the transformation of the Gambia Revenue Authority GRA.

Commissioner Darboe   four retiree’s officials have been recognized and will continue to linger in the history book of the Gambia Revenue Authority and by extension the country at large.

Darboe further stated that GRA staff and management are very much appreciative of the four outgoing officer’s contribution during the course of their services at the   GRA.

He challenged not only GRA junior staff, but any other civil servant to emulate the GRA senior retiree’s staff and ensure to leave a legacy that will greatly inspire the young generation.

He called on the youth to always learn from the old experience people like the  four outgoing  to ensure that they leave a legacy.  He urged workers particularly his staff to continue nurture team spirit and unity.

“We are all Gambian it is our government and let respect and sacrifice for national development, all what we need is peace, stability in this country,” he said.
