KAC Handovers Solar Lighting, Borehole to Jokadou and Sabach Sanjal

Kerewan Area Council handover solar lighting to Bantanding Tukulor, Kerr Wally and Kerr Abdou Fadi in Jokadou and borehole to Sinchu Pallen of Sabach Sanjal in the North Bank Region on Sunday.

Officials say the projects are part of council commitment to fulfill its mandate to serve taxpayers.

Malamin IL BOJANG chairman of Kerewan Area Council has underscored council commitment of improving lives of tax payers.

He thanked the contractor TK German Gambia Solar Enterprise for the timely completion of the project and stressed the need for community to sustain the project.

Seedy K Touray chief executive officer Kerewan Area Council revealed that the lighting project cost council D325, 000, while he assured of council willingness of transforming lives of rural communities.

He said council will work with partners to provide clean drinking water for the community.

Alpha Khan Ward Councilor and who double as vice chairman of Kerewan Area Council said the project will provide safety to the communities along the border villages and boost socio economic development.

He further appeals to development partners to support   the communities with ambulance, water and coose milling machines, noting that this will alleviate suffering and health challenges.

Aja Gass Lowe lady councilor for Jokadou reiterated Women Bureau commitment empowerment women and call on council to support the plight of women and girls.

Ousman Sallah chairman of Bantanding Tukulor Village Development Committee and Adama Jallow appeals  for more support in the areas  of coos milling machine and ambulance to facilitate referral of sick and pregnant woman  minor Kuntair Health Centre.

Ousman Jobe Alkalo and Amie Njie of Kerr Abdou Fadi said the community urgent need is water, noting that lighting project contribute to small ruminant theft.

The beneficiary communities of the lighting project presented letters of appreciation to the management of local council.

In the same development, Kerewan Area Council handed a borehole to Sinchu Pallen of Sabach Sanjal, aimed to address the growing needs of water.

Alasan Keita director of planning and development noted that the aims of the project is to empowered communities on safety and promote education of children.

He urged the communities to ensure sustainability of projects, through opening of bank account, water management and electricity subcommittee to promote popular participation and ownership and by extension embark on resource mobilization.

The community Sinchu Pallen call on government to support them with good road, farm input including fertilizer to boost production.
