Sukuta Wannsee Basic Cycle School celebrates 30 years anniversary

Sukuta Wannsee Basic Cycle School in partnership with Forder Association and friends from Berlin Germany celebrated the school 30 years anniversary on April, 16t 2019 at school ground.

Mr. Sambou Kanteh, principal of Wannsee, said that a lot of development has been taken place since school was established in 1989 and up to date.

According to him, the aims and objectives of the founders of the school is to provide quality and affordable basic education for the children of Sukuta and its surroundings.

He pointed out that the school performs both academic and extra curriculum activities, adding that the aims and objectives of the founders have been achieved by the result demonstrated in the reports of GABECE Exams 2015 to 2018.

He  further said   these great achievements were made possible due to the effort of the hardworking ,sacrifice caring and sociable staff of the school  and with the help of the great sponsors  the school have modern computer lab ,solar backup system ,home science lab ,borehole ,and internet Wifi connection.

Mr. Ousman Mohammed Cham, guest speaker, said that the sponsors have intervened at a time when good education in the Gambia was becoming commercialized beyond the reach of the less fortunate ones in the country.

“The investment in the development of our community and beyond is already having an immense positive impact in the growth of our nation.

Destroying any nation does not require the use of atomic bombs or the use of long range missiles it only requires lowering the quality of education and allowing cheating in examination by students,” he pointed out.

Mr. Alfred Harnischfeger, a board member Forder Association said that the story of the school is incomparable as a result of many hands who have formed this project for many years, in 1989, recalling that the school started with 25 children, two teachers and a budget of D8, 000 and today the school have nearly 620 students and a budget of 3 million Dalasis.

He further stated that the mission of the association is to keep the school running, keep the school in good condition, arrange training for teachers, supply the materials for learning,  arrange for excursions and take care of the well-being of the students and the teachers.
