As Summer Tourism Season 2019, which recently kicked-off in Destination Gambia progress, FTI in partnership with the Meeting Point – The Gambia continue working hard and flew into the country One Hundred and Seventy-Six Slovakian tourists. This flight marked the first set of Slovakian tourists to The Gambia in the country’s tourism record.

The One Hundred and Seventy-Six Slovakian tourists were received at the foot of the airplane by officials of the Gambia Tourism Board and Meeting Point The Gambia with cultural fanfare.

In the ongoing Summer Tourism Season, the FTI with its partner, Meeting Point The Gambia will be flying into destination Gambia four times per week, the frequency is significant as the flights will be from four different airports and will continue throughout the summer tourism season otherwise known as green season in the destination.

The summer tourism season 2019 flight started with FTI direct flight from Munich, Germany last Monday April 15 with 168 tourists. The General Manager – Meeting Point The Gambia, Soren Damstrup in an interview said “with the introduction of this (flights) it means there is no more off season in The Gambia. He noted that it is one of their efforts – to introduce destination Gambia as all year round tourism country.

The flight is very significant to the Gambia Tourism Board taking into consideration their efforts to end the green season which is known as off season in The Gambia and make the Destination a all year round tourism Destination.

Over years, the Gambia Tourism Board (GTBoard) under the tutelage of the Ministry of Tourism and Culture has been working hard to end the off season in the destination. However, the start of the four flights per week will help to put an end to the off season as having five months economic income from tourism in a year cannot sustain the industry.
