Mustapha Landing Marong, former Attorney General and Minister of Justice under Jammeh regime, has slammed AFPRC government over the death of Ousman Koro Ceesay.

Testifying before the Truth, Reconciliation and Reparation Commission on Tuesday, the former AG said the unsuccessful investigations into the death of Ousman Koro Ceesay was not negligence but was a willful refusal.

Earlier on Tuesday a former Jammeh’s Interior minister, Lamin Kaba Bajo accepted the negligence of his Ministry for discontinued with the investigations of Ousman Koro Ceesay.

However, Mr. Marong, who is now Managing Director of Gambia Maritime Agency said: “It was not a negligence it was a willful refusal to investigate and Yahya Jammeh told him in my presence, Yahya Jammeh was sitting in his office with his dark glasses in his military fatigues to get a fax number.  Kaba Bajo came in and Yahya Jammeh told him regarding your investigations into Koro Ceesay’s death proceed with it quietly. Kaba sat down he didn’t say yes or no.”

“Well, is unfortunate…he’s covering himself up, is a cover up because why would I come up with that type of a statement fabricated. In fact, he is denying. It is not helpful.  It was a failure but a failure from the top. If the boss didn’t give the order the people bellow cannot move. It is a systematic refusal. The system was there with well qualified people who did trained in criminology,” he added.

Meanwhile, he told the Commission that no coronation inquest was done about Ousman Koro Ceesay’s death by the government of Jammeh. He disclosed that Koro’s case was never discussed by the cabinet of Jammeh.

“There was no coronation’s inquests, not a single piece of paper was send from the Ministry of Interior to the Ministry of Justice about inquest of Koro’s death
