Prominent Fulani Artiste Dies in a Car Incident

Mayo Jawo, a prominent Fulani artiste on Monday was killed in a fatal car crash in Kougeul Town in the region of Tambakunda in Senegal.

The sad incident occurred when Jawo was travelling from the South to the Northern part of Senegal. Eye witness told The Voice that the decease’s driver ran into a truck which resulted in the regrettable incident which claimed the death of two other people.

Mondeh Baldeh a fellow artist and a close friend of the deceased lamented that:  “I was saddened when I received the information of my friend’s death,”

The Casamance-Wellingara based musician is among the most renowned Fulani musicians in the sub-region. He has also sung for the Gambia Democratic Congress’ leader Mamma Kandeh in 2017 in a song titled “I will never forget you”.

Madam Jawo, until her death, positioned herself as one of the best female Fulani artists in the sub-region with thousands of followers across the Senegambia region.

When the sad news broke Fulbe Africa said in a statement that: “We would like to express our deepest condolences for the passing of Madam Maayo Jawo, one of the greatest and most popular Fula cultural artists in the SeneGambia region. We have lost a great promoter of culture, a true humanist”

“The late madam Maayo Jawo dedicated her entire life to the promotion and preservation of the ideals of Pulaagu. Our deepest condolence to the family, relatives and fans of the deceased”
