16 Young female graduates from six month mentorship program

The Diaspora Mentoring Scheme in collaboration with the Youth Empowerment Project (YEP), Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA) and Leadership Gambia, graduated 16 young female after completing six months intensive mentorship program.

The graduation ceremony was held at the Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA) hall on Wednesday.

Sigga M. Jange, the co-founder of Leadership Gambia said the mission of the project is to trains young Gambian entrepreneurs on ways of improving their business, noting that some have the ideas of creating business but don’t have the money to begins, while others are in the business already but don’t have enough money to expand their business or mentors.

According to her, organizations came together and decided to work and make sure young female entrepreneurs in the Gambia achieved and to make their dreams come true.

Fatou Mbenga Jallow, the project coordinator, (YEP) said these projects are to guides young Gambian female in investing their business ideas or any other development they want to bring in their communities and the country at large.

“Our expectation is that from this mentorship program  our mentees will continue to get support but they will also take the opportunity that has been given to them and in turn they will advised and guides others young Gambian,” she said.

Nyima Sarr, Mentee noted that  projects have really help her to build up a team from her company and all those people in the company got a opportunity to apply the form to be part of this mentorship program and through that they all have different position in the company and now my business is growing faster than my expectation.

Madam Sarr added that the projects create an environment for young Gambian entrepreneur like herself, when she came back from America and she didn’t know many people in the business.  But now I have build up a career to become business lady with my company and the staff.
