US Based Gambian Activist Thumbs up Trans-Gambia Bridge

 Basamba Njol Drammeh, US-based Gambian Activist has hailed The Gambian President Adama Barrow for his foresight and resolute stance in ensuring that the Trans-Gambia Bridge comes to fruition.

The Trans-Gambia Bridge has been a long standing project that never witnesses much progress during the former regimes of Sir Dawda Kairaba Jawara and Yahya Jammeh.

Trans-Gambia Bridge sources disclosed was first conceived by former British colonial masters after entering into negotiations with their French colonial counterparts in Senegal, this has never happened due to widespread disapproval among the colonists.

However, barely few months into the presidency, Barrow gives orders for the commencement of works that was halted many times by his predecessor Yahya Jammeh.

 “I want to sincerely thank the President of the Republic of the Gambia, H.E Adama Barrow for his stance in ensuring that project comes to completion. I have no doubt that this project will open up more economic opportunities for not only The Gambians but for the people of the sub -region and beyond, “said Basamba Njol Drammeh.

According to him, this bridge will help boost the economy of The Gambia and Senegal, thus, facilitate the regional integration efforts undertaken by Ecowas and the African Union, adding that the bridge will connect the country to the rest of the world.

“I strongly believed that Gambia’s road to progress and development is possible under President Barrow and I am calling on all patriotic Gambians to give fullest support to the President in fulfilling his developmental aspirations for the country,“ Basamba Drammeh disclosed.

 He argued that Gambians irrespective of political affiliation should join the President`s BUS to developing the country into a city state which Gambians have been yearning for decades without fruitfulness.

“I am convinced without doubt that President Barrow will leave by his words. He has promised to transform URR and has done so and now that the Trans-Gambia Bridge is about to be inaugurated is a clear testimony of the commitment made by the President and his government which shows that they are on the right path, “the US-Based Gambian Activist stated.

He observes that the Trans-Gambia Bridge will improve the lives of the rural Gambians, therefore, transforming the border towns of Farafenni and Soma to cities.
