PPP election dispute to be resolved in court

The People Progressive Party (PPP) National Congress dispute is to be resolved in court as defeated candidate Bakary Bunja Darbo and others reject the results.

Source closed to the PPP executives hinted this paper that the defeated candidate Darbo and team are collecting all transaction between the party executives in the Diaspora and Omar Amadou Jallow, the Interim Leader of the party for over two decades and also to challenge the eligibility of Papa Njie’s election in court.

“Papa Njie is not a member of the party, he joined the party less than three months, his membership was not approved by the executives but he got all his backing from the Interim Leader OJ Jallow.

The election should have taken placed on Saturday and if that has happened BB Darbo was going to win, but it was moved to Sunday to change the voters list in favour of Papa Njie”, said a member of the organizing committee of PPP Congress from 28th to 30th December, 2018; who beg to remain anonymous.

He then said that the Congress was manipulated by OJ Jallow and was clearly manifested at the Election, noting that of Papa Njie is not a registered member of PPP and was not qualified to vote  for a candidate or contest for executive position.

Sources said that Darbo’s camp is working to put the country first ruling party back on track to contribute in national development.

It could be recalled that few days after the PPP Congress, the Senior Executives issued a press released challenging the results on the Secretary General and the Party Leader’s position. When this paper contacted the former interim leader OJ Jallow, he said that the press released was issued by one of the men among those that chaired the Congress.
