Gambian Won Miss West Africa International Competition

Mariatou Sarr, who represented The Gambia at the 2019 Miss West Africa International, made history as the country’s first representative to finish amongst the first three in the famous pageantry competition.

The 6th Edition of Miss West Africa International was held on 4th January, 2019 at   Kairaba Beach Hotel. The beauty pageant has attracted 18 West African countries hosted by Biddy’s Promotion aims to build the link between West Africa and to promote beauty as a business. It was held under the theme: “Irregualr Migration” the event is trying to engage young people talks about the dangers of illegal migration.

In front of a crowd of hundreds of people at the Kairaba Beach Hotel, the dark-skinned beauty was crowned as the first runner up. Ms. Sarr received an award of USD1, 500 and a sea view plot of land worth USD 5000.

Shortly, after the events she told journalists that: “It has definitely been a long journey and I gave it my best but whatever God decides is always the best and I am grateful for my position”.

“I also want to thank my mum for always being there for me, pushing me through all the storms and making me believe that I can reach my goals”,

Miss West Africa International-Gambia said she is and will always be a true ambassador of The Gambia and she will do her utmost to raise the flag high.

Mariatou thanked her management team, Biddy’s Promotion and her colleagues for supporting her. She is currently pursuing a degree at the University of The Gambia.

Ida Bidwell Mansary, chief executive officer Biddy’s Promotion said the event is very successful as they want to beauty and promote tourism sector.
