Gambia to host Africa Youth Commission

The 3rd General Assembly of African Youth Commission is to be held in Banjul in 2109, National Youth Council said.

The event is due on March 23-26 which would discuss youth empowerment across the continent along with congress for the commission.

And it is expected to be held under theme: “the future is now youth are not too young to lead.”

Speaking to The Voice in an exclusive interview in his office, the executive director of National Youth Council Lamin Darboe said the forum would be beneficial for youth of Africa, adding very relevant issues would be discuss regarding the welfare of youth  of the continent.

He disclosed the conference will attract about three hundred young people across the continent who will discuss on how to continue to champion the agenda of young people in Africa.

“The convergence will enable the African youth voices to be heard and facilitate them to contribute in identifying solutions that will help in addressing the challenges affecting the continent,” he said.

Mr. Darboe urged Gambian youth to take part in the forum efficiently saying it will help them “both in the planning process and leadership of African youth commission.”

According to him, many Gambian youth have expressed interest to contest in the AYC congress forum but that the national consortium is working on that process to select a Gambian candidate who will vie.

He expressed hope about “any position a Gambian youth handle will be officiated professionally because Gambian youth have the competency to provide leadership for any pan African organization.”
