Gambian forward Baboucarr Faal scored his first Czech First League goal for FC Viktoria Plzeň on Sunday, but his effort was not enough to prevent a 3-2 home defeat to SK Sigma Olomouc.
Faal started the match on the bench before coming on in the second half as Viktoria Plzeň sought to overturn the deficit.
The Gambian striker made an immediate impact, scoring in the 85th minute to reduce the deficit to 3-2 and give the home side hope of securing at least a point.
However, Sigma Olomouc held on to claim all three points.
Viktoria Plzeň’s first goal came in the 34th minute through an own goal by Abdoulaye Sylla before Faal completed the scoring for the hosts late in the match.
Although his goal could not prevent defeat, it marked an important personal milestone for Faal, who joined Viktoria Plzeň from Ukrainian club Karpaty Lviv in the summer of 2026.
The goal was his first in the Czech First League since joining the club.
