The Gambia Basketball Association (GBA) has announced a 10-player squad that will represent the country at the 2026 FIBA Zone Two U16 Championship to be held in Dakar, Senegal.
The association said the players were selected following a nationwide talent identification process that assessed their performance, commitment and potential.
Mariama Bella Jallow has been named captain of the team, while Isatou Jobarteh will serve as assistant captain.
The squad comprises players drawn from clubs and basketball academies across the country.
The selected players are Mariama Bella Jallow (captain), Isatou Jobarteh (assistant captain), Fatou Secka (West Basketball Club), Isatou Sawo (Hope East), Maimuna Jallow (Hope Academy), Mama D. Colley (West Basketball Club), Kumba Jallow (Hope East), Ndey Anta Jallow (West Basketball Club), Ndey Julie Cham (YMCA) and Ida Jobe (Banjul Academy).
The team is expected to continue preparations ahead of the regional championship, where it will compete against other West African nations for honours in the under-16 category.
The tournament will provide the young Gambian players with an opportunity to gain international experience and showcase their talent on the regional stage.
