The Gambia national taekwondo team delivered a strong performance at the Thiès Open National Championship in Senegal over the weekend, returning home with medals and commendation for discipline and sportsmanship.
A delegation of 12 athletes and two coaches represented The Gambia at the competition held in Thiès, where they demonstrated determination and steady progress on the regional stage. The team secured three bronze medals, marking a notable achievement in the tournament.
In addition to their medal success, the Gambian contingent was named the “Most Disciplined Team” of the championship, an award that recognised their professionalism, respect, and conduct throughout the event.
The result adds to the country’s growing presence in regional taekwondo competitions as athletes continue to gain experience and exposure on the international stage.
