Tujereng VDC Holds Annual General Meeting.

The Tujereng Village Development Committee (VDC) a local governance structure aimed at promoting community-led development over the weekend conducted its 2026 Annual General Meeting (AGM).

The objective of the general meeting was geared towards promoting community participation in development planning, mobilizing local resources for development projects and improving living standards.

Speaking at the meeting held on Saturday at Tujereng Primary School, Karamo S. Bojang, Alkalo (head) of the village urged youth to participate in VDCs initiatives adding that young people should contribute to the economic development.

Alkalo Bojang acknowledged the role of the outgoing VDC describing it as historic in the community. He challenged the new leadership to take the steps of the former VDC “in contributing immensely to the community development.”

Chairman of the Village Development Committee Cherno Njai outlined numerous development projects and activities the VDC undertook citing road rehabilitation and the training of 11 football coaches.

Njai disclosed that the VDC had agreements with GACH Company for regular maintenance of the community ambulance and purchasing cash power for the health clinic as key developments.

Landing Jabang, the treasurer of the VDC also spelt out the role of the treasurer and the financial statements of their accounts. He says that the VDC is responsible for the management of the development funds and the supervision and control of all matters relating to the financial affairs.

According to him, the system of internal control has operated adequately throughout the fiscal year ending on 31st December 2025 and the provisions of the financial regulation had been reasonably complied with during the year.

The treasurer outlined the various projects that the VDC executed and their corresponding expenses.

Other speakers at the meeting included Mr. Alpha Jallow, the Auditor of Tujereng Village Development Committee who stated that they hired an independent auditing firm to audit the committee’s financial report as well as Lamin Bojang, the PRO of the VDC.
