Matchweek Five of the NBRFA Third Division League concluded with excitement across the North Bank Region on Sunday, delivering close victories, entertaining encounters, and crucial points as the first round came to an end. Teams continued to push for strong positions, reflecting the league’s growing intensity and competitiveness.
In the Western Zone, Essau United secured a vital 1–0 away victory over Real de Bakindik. Sheikh Njie’s first-half goal was enough to claim all three points, moving Essau United to the top of the standings and ending the first round on a strong note. Real de Bakindik remain in search of their first win of the campaign.
Elsewhere, Edinburgh FC and Jambarr FC played out a goalless draw in a tightly contested match. Despite creating chances, neither side found the breakthrough, sharing the points. The result keeps Jambarr in mid-table, while Edinburgh gains a valuable point in its fight to avoid the relegation playoff zone.
One of the weekend’s standout matches took place at Noo Kunda, where Walimang FC claimed a 3–2 win over Noo Kunda United in a five-goal thriller. After taking an early lead, Walimang fell behind 2–1 before halftime. The team responded strongly in the second half, scoring twice to complete a dramatic comeback and maintain its challenge in the Eastern Zone title race.
In the Eastern Zone, Samakung United and 2nd Infantry FC played to a 1–1 draw. The visitors took a late first-half lead, but Samakung secured a late equalizer at home. The result leaves Samakung in mid-table, while 2nd Infantry continue to battle near the relegation zone.
As the first round concludes, Essau United lead the Western Zone, while King Power FC top the Eastern Zone standings. The league now enters a 10-day break, with the transfer window open from 5 to 15 April, providing clubs an opportunity to strengthen squads ahead of the second round.
