The Senegal Football Federation has confirmed that it will go ahead with its planned celebrations of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) title, despite a recent ruling by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) that awarded the championship to Morocco.

The federation maintains that it will not suspend its programme of activities marking what it describes as a historic AFCON 2025 triumph. The celebrations are expected to take place during an international friendly match against Peru scheduled for Saturday, March 28, at the Stade de France.

The decision by the Senegalese authorities comes in response to CAF’s ruling, which followed a disciplinary process that resulted in the title being reassigned to Morocco. Senegal, however, continues to recognize its sporting achievement on the field and says it is committed to celebrating with its supporters internationally.

The friendly fixture is now expected to carry added symbolic significance, serving both as a sporting encounter and a public expression of national pride. The development has generated wide discussion within African football circles as stakeholders await further clarity on the dispute.
