Second Phase of Civil Service Verification Kicks off in Urban Areas on March 4

The Ministry of Public Service (MoPS) will launch the second phase of the nationwide civil service and pensioner verification exercise on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, in Banjul, Kanifing Municipality (KM), and the West Coast Region (WCR).

The exercise follows the successful completion of a 21-day verification process in the North Bank, Lower River, Central River, and Upper River Regions two weeks ago.

Speaking to the Voice Newspaper, Mr. Alhagie Jallow, Director of Reforms leading the national Human Resource Management Information System (HRMIS) project, says all government employees and pensioners in the targeted urban areas are required to participate.

“All civil servants and pensioners must present themselves at their duty stations or designated locations for verification,” Mr. Jallow remarked.

He outlined the mandatory documents for civil servants, which included appointment, promotion, and transfer letters, warrant card, Tax Identification Number (TIN) certificate, valid National Identification Card or ID card printout, and alien card. Pensioners are required to present their National ID, passport, driver’s license, voter card, and pension number.

Failure to provide all required documents will result in the suspension of salaries or pension payments until proper documentation is submitted and verified, Mr. Jallow warned.

He also noted that certain documents, while not mandatory, can facilitate the process. These include recent pay slips, confirmation, and retirement letters for civil servants and the TIN certificate for pensioners.

Mr. Jallow urged participants to cooperate fully with verification teams, follow instructions, and report any challenges to their supervisors.

The Ministry says the exercise aims to maintain accurate personnel records, eliminate ghost workers, ensure proper payment of salaries and pensions, and strengthen the integrity of the civil service system.
