Week 11: Colley Stars maintain lead in GFF Second Division

 

Leaders Colley Stars, Menmar Banjul United, Elite United, Baalor Sarr and Sibanor United all secured victories as week 11 matches of the GFF-APS Wallet Men’s Second Division League were played on Sunday.

Menmar Banjul United registered their third win of the season with a 2-0 victory over Gambia Armed Forces at the Ousman Saho Football Field in Old Yundum. Muhammed Ceesay opened the scoring in the 34th minute, reacting quickest to a rebound to tap home from close range. Malick Jangum later finished off a fine team move to double the advantage and seal the win.

At the Serrekunda East Mini Stadium, Pa Dodou Jallow struck late to hand Elite United maximum points in their narrow win over Serrekunda United.

League leaders Colley Stars extended their unbeaten run to 11 matches with a commanding 2-0 triumph over Unique Global at the Live Your Dreams Academy Field in Basori. Lamin Colley gave his side the lead in the 14th minute after controlling the ball on his chest before finishing from close range. Matarr Ceesay added the second on the stroke of half-time to put the result beyond doubt.

In another encounter, Baalor Sarr came from behind to defeat Marimoo Pakfood, who had taken the lead through Raymond Jatta in the 24th minute. Emanuel Joof netted a brace to complete the comeback for the Faraba-based side.

Sibanor United also claimed a 1-0 victory over Suwo Kono at the Box Bar Mini Stadium in Brikama, courtesy of a lone strike from Momodou Lamin Colley.

Colley Stars top the 18-team table with 23 points, three ahead of second-placed Wallidan.
