The Minister of Public Service, Hon. Baboucarr Bouy, on Tuesday, January 13, 2025, expressed satisfaction with the administrative operations of Bundung Maternal and Child Hospital (BMCH) during a routine visit to government institutions.

Minister Bouy’s visit focused on the hospital’s use of the biometric time attendance system. Speaking to BMCH’s senior management team, he noted that the facility is “a step ahead of most institutions” in the application of the system.

“We are pleased with the way your institution is managed and commend the entire staff for their dedication. The team here at the hospital is already a winning team,” he said.

He urged staff to continue cooperating with management under CEO Mamady Cham to maintain the hospital’s high performance. Minister Bouy also indicated that his ministry would recommend to the Ministry of Health that other health facilities study BMCH’s management practices.

“If other health facilities in the country reach the same level of performance, we may see a reduced reliance on private healthcare,” he added.

Acknowledging challenges in retaining and attracting staff, Minister Bouy said the Ministry of Public Service had initiated discussions with the Ministry of Health to develop policies to attract health workers across the country. He emphasized the importance of creating conducive working conditions to ensure staff retention.

CEO Mamady Cham briefed the Minister on the hospital’s Human Resource Module System (HRMS), introduced in January 2023. He highlighted the system’s benefits, including improved efficiency, reduced absenteeism and lateness, prevention of proxy registration, and minimized administrative manipulation.

Minister Bouy was accompanied by Permanent Secretaries Pateh Jah, Lamin F. Jawara, Sheriff Jallow, Directors of Public Service Lalla Jaiteh and Amet Sallah, and other senior officials.
