President Adama Barrow Saturday, laid the foundation stones for major road construction projects in the West Coast Region, underscoring his government’s commitment to inclusive development and improved connectivity.

The projects include the EPC Lot 7 Section 2 roads covering the Farato Telecenter–Bafuloto (6 km) and Jambur–Brikama Jalambang (9.1 km) corridors, as well as EPC Lot 7 Section 1, which comprises the Brikama–Kassa Kunda–Nyofelleh (10 km) and Kachumeh–Gujur–Kunkujang–Sanyang (11.9 km) roads. The total length of the projects is 32 km.

Speaking at the ceremony in Kassa Kunda, President Barrow described the initiative as a “pathway to opportunity, unity, and national progress.” He said the roads would facilitate safer travel, boost business, and create opportunities for employment and entrepreneurship, particularly for women and youth.

“This location marks not just the beginning of another phase of road construction, but also the potential creation of new pathways to greater opportunities and stronger connections,” the President said.

President Barrow added that the projects form part of his administration’s broader infrastructural programme aimed at extending development to all communities. He commended engineers, planners, contractors, and local communities for their cooperation, while urging residents to support workers and safeguard construction materials.

The Minister of Transport, Works and Infrastructure, the Governor of the West Coast Region, and local leaders, including the Chief and Alkalo of Kassa Kunda, also addressed the ceremony.
