MoPS, PMO Staff Trained on Evidence-Based Public Service Delivery

Twenty-five (25) staff drawn from the Ministry of Public Service (MoPS) and Personnel Management Office (PMO), completed five-day training on Evidence-Based Public Service Delivery.

The training took place from 8th -12th December, 2025, at the Civil Service University of The Gambia, formerly called Management Development Institute (MDI).

Speaking during the closing ceremony, the Provost at the Civil Service University (CSU) of The Gambia, Alieu K, Jarjue said brainstorming in a form of training is always good for civil servants.

Provost Jarjue urged participants to do their work according to their office Term of Reference (TOR), and he equally advised them to be honest with their office work.

“Be connect to your creator (Allah the Almighty) so that you can be comfortable in life and be content of what you are to consume as a civil servant,” Provost Jarjue advised participants.

Civil Service University of The Gambia Provost, Jarjue further advised participants not to compare themselves with anyone in life because as he rightly stated, people orientation are not the same.

For his part, the Principal Management Trainer at the Civil Service University of The Gambia, Sheikh Omar Fye described the training as timely and vital. Mr. Fye therefore explained that, there is need to improve the performance of civil servants through training in order to come up with new ideas for the benefit of the country.

Mr. Yaya Sawo, Senior Management Trainer at CSU deputizing for the coordinator of the program, Mr. Sillah Conateh, highlighted that the major objective of the training was to address the skills gaps in evidence-based policy making identified in the 2024 Skills Gap Assessment of Core Government Functions.

He noted the significance of the collaboration between the Ministry of Public Service and the Civil Service University of The Gambia in fostering capacity building initiatives for the civil service. He further expressed optimism that the training will significantly contribute in improving the performance of the participants at work.
