The Commissioner of Police for Mobile Traffic, Lamin King Colley, has concluded a nationwide tour where he engaged communities and stakeholders on road safety challenges.

According to a statement issued by the Gambia Police Force on Tuesday, the tour allowed Commissioner Colley to assess firsthand information about the realities of road usage, particularly during the rainy season when accidents are more frequent. It added that the engagements were also meant to strengthen joint efforts to reduce traffic-related incidents across the country.

As part of the tour, Commissioner Colley met with the General Transport Union in various regions, where he emphasised the critical role of drivers and transport operators in preventing accidents. During this meeting, driver conduct, vehicle standards, and fostering cooperation between police and the transport sector to ensure road safety remained the focus.

Mobile Traffic Unit remains committed to enforcing the law, promoting safe driving practices, and working closely with communities and unions to build collective responsibility in safeguarding lives.
