The Brikama Sports Committee Nawettan got off to an exciting start with wins for both Elephant Tree FC and Darsilameh United in their opening matches on Sunday.
In the afternoon’s first match, newcomers Elephant Tree FC pulled off an impressive victory against the more experienced Santo-Su United. The decisive moment came from Bruno Gomez, who scored the match’s lone goal to secure a narrow 1-0 win for the Lamin Daranka-based team.
Despite consistent pressure from Santo-Su United, Elephant Tree’s defense remained solid, thwarting all attempts to score and holding on for a hard-fought win.
The second match saw Darsilameh United clinch a dramatic late win against Sky Power & Niro Legacy. The winning goal came from star player Ismaila Ceesay, who found the back of the net with just two minutes remaining in the game.
Sky Power & Niro Legacy had dominated much of the second half, creating four clear scoring opportunities. However, their inability to capitalize on those chances ultimately proved costly, as Darsilameh United punished their wastefulness with a clinical, last-gasp goal.
