Man in The Dock For Obtaining Money By False Pretense

Aboulie Jallow of Brikama Town Thursday appeared before Magistrate A. Fofana of Brikama Magistrates’ Court on a single charge of obtaining money by false pretense, contrary to Section 288 of the Criminal Code, Cap 10:01 Volume 3, Revised Laws of The Gambia 2009.

Corporal 7232 E. Fofana represented the Inspector General of Police, while the accused was represented by Counsel Jatta, who appeared on behalf of Counsel K. Bojang.

According to the particulars of the offence, in May 2025, at Brikama and other locations within Kombo Central, West Coast Region, the accused allegedly obtained a sum of D18,000 from one Joseph Sanneh under the false pretense of purchasing motor vehicle parts on his behalf a representation he allegedly knew to be false.

When the charge was read in court, Aboulie Jallow pleaded not guilty.

Prosecutor Cpl 7232 E. Fofana then applied for an adjournment to allow the prosecution time to secure its witnesses. He raised no objection to the accused being granted bail.

The court granted the application and adjourned the matter to 20th August 2025. Bail was also granted to the accused in the sum of D20,000, with one Gambian surety required to provide either a national ID card or passport, and swear to an affidavit of means.
