North Star FC Return to Winning Ways with 5-0 Victory

North Star Football Club returned to winning ways with a 5-0 demolition of AJ Soccer at their home ground in Kerr Jatta. Mafugi Ceesay was the star of the show, opening the scoring with a low drive in the second minute before doubling the lead with a looped finish over the goalkeeper into the top corner before halftime.

Mamadou Ndure extended the advantage to 3-0 in the 56th minute with a clever finish. Ceesay completed a sensational hat-trick in the 75th minute, and substitute Alieu Demba rounded off the scoring with a solo effort seven minutes from time.

In another match, league leaders Colley Stars FC maintained their impressive run with a late 2-1 win over RS Tallinding at the Ousman Saho Football Field in Old Yundum. Bakary Sanyang put Colley Stars ahead in the 38th minute with a successful penalty, but Masanneh Jobarteh quickly equalized for RS Tallinding by capitalizing on a rebound inside the box. Modou Lamin Bah secured the victory with a spectacular overhead kick deep into stoppage time.

Meanwhile, Baalor Sarr recorded a crucial 1-0 victory over the Gambia Armed Forces in Brikama, courtesy of Emanuel Joof’s 55th-minute strike. Serrekunda FC also edged past Gunjur United FC with a late goal from Gibril Bojang at the Nyamina Football Field in Gunjur.

At the close of Week 16 in the GFF-APS Wallet Second Division League, Colley Stars lead the 18-team table with 35 points, four ahead of second-placed Baalor Sarr on 31 points. Elite United FC and Kanifing East FC occupy third and fourth place, level on 30 points. Serrekunda FC (15 points) and Gunjur United FC (14 points) sit in the bottom two positions.
