Week 16 of GFF First Division League Ends with Falcons, Brikama United Victories

Week 16 of the GFF First Division League, with Vista Bank-Baluwo as the official partner, concluded on Friday with a mix of decisive victories and hard-fought draws. Falcons FC and Brikama United emerged as the main winners, while other matches ended in shared points.

Falcons FC secured a 3-0 home victory over Greater Tomorrow at the Live Your Dreams Academy Field in Basori, completing a league double over their opponents. Mario Mendy opened the scoring in the 19th minute, followed by Muhammed Sonko’s close-range strike, set up by Jusus Ann Gomez. Malang Lamin Jammeh added a third, steering a precise shot into the bottom left corner. The Blue Army dominated possession and created multiple chances throughout the match.

Brikama United claimed a 2-1 win over Bombada Football Club in the Brikama derby. Samba Jatta’s brace gave the Sateyba Boys the edge, despite Omar Jarju converting a stoppage-time penalty for Bombada.

BST Galaxy FC and Hart FC played to a 1-1 draw at the Soma Mini Stadium. Abdoulie Jallow put Hart ahead in the 22nd minute, but Lamin Jarju rescued a point for the Galaxies with a last-minute equalizer.

In Bakau, Real de Banjul and Steve Biko FC settled for a goalless draw. The match, played in front of a large crowd, saw Real’s Sidiki Jawara receive a red card in stoppage time. The result prevented Real from closing the gap on league leaders GPA Football Club Official.

The final match at the Late Ousman Saho Field in Old Yundum ended 0-0 between Samger Football Club and the Gambian Dutch Lions.

Following Week 16, Ports Authority leads the 16-team table with 29 points. Hart and Real de Banjul are joint second with 25 points each, while Samger and Steve Biko remain in the relegation zone with 13 points apiece.
