Police are busy investigating an alleged murder case that occurred in Manjai Kunda on Wednesday, sources revealed.

According to the Gambia Police Force (GPF), the deceased, 33-year-old Mbaye Dem, sustained a stab wound to the neck during an altercation with 32-year-old Momodou Samba Bah, a Guinean national residing in the same compound. The victim was rushed to Kanifing General Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival. His body was later transferred to the Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital mortuary.

Police reports indicate that the dispute between the two tenants was reportedly linked to the movement of a television cable within the compound.

The GPF’s crime scene investigation team processed the area, recovering the suspected weapon—a knife with blood stains—from the alleged suspect’s residence.

Evidence collected also includes blood-stained clothing from the victim. The suspect remains in police custody and is cooperating with investigators.

The Gambia Police Force urges the public to resolve disputes peacefully and to report conflicts or any suspicious activity promptly to the nearest police station.
