The Gambia Football Federation (GFF) will on Wednesday sign contracts with construction companies, consultants and suppliers for the development of football infrastructure across the country.

The Federation said the signing ceremony will take place at Football House, marking what it described as a major milestone in efforts to expand access to football facilities nationwide.

According to the GFF, the project will focus on the construction and upgrading of football pitches in the provinces to promote the development of the sport at grassroots level.

Under Lot 1, new grass football pitches will be constructed in Bullock and Kwinella. The facilities will include boreholes with comprehensive watering systems, perimeter fencing, and dressing rooms equipped for home and away teams, referees, match commissioners and medical staff. Office spaces, storage areas and sanitation facilities will also be provided.

Lot 2 will cover Old Yundum and Kuntair. In collaboration with Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA), artificial pitches will be installed at the Biri-Biri field at the National Technical Training Centre in Old Yundum and in Kuntair. Local contractors will undertake civil works, including the construction of perimeter fences and fully equipped dressing rooms similar to those in Lot 1.

Under Lot 3, works at the Jarra Soma Mini Stadium will involve the completion of the Soma pavilion and dressing rooms. The upgraded facility will include medical rooms, office spaces and designated toilets for persons with disabilities.

The Federation also announced plans to strengthen logistics and mobility through the procurement of eight double-cabin 4×4 pick-up vehicles—one for each of the seven Regional Football Associations and one for Women’s Football—as well as a 32-seater minibus to support national league clubs.

“These contracts were awarded following a rigorous and transparent public tender process, with bids opened in the presence of representatives from all bidding companies, ensuring the highest standards of accountability,” the Federation stated.
