Hart FC brought an end to Gambia Ports Authority’s unbeaten run in the Gambia Football Federation Men’s Division One after securing a dramatic 3-2 victory in a pulsating encounter at the Jarra Soma Mini Stadium.
Hart FC took the lead when GPA captain Julaba Sawaneh inadvertently diverted the ball into his own net following a deflection. The visitors responded strongly and equalised through Ebrima Badjie in the 30th minute.
Hart FC regained the advantage in the 59th minute when attacking midfielder Afansu Dibba curled in a well-taken 20-yard free kick. GPA appeared to have rescued a point in stoppage time as Sawaneh atoned for his earlier error by scoring the equaliser.
However, in a dramatic final twist, Hart FC substitute Alfusainey Ceesay tapped home the winning goal moments later after a brilliant assist from Ebrima Barry, sealing a memorable victory for the hosts.
At the Brikama Box Bar Mini Stadium, Bombada FC edged Hawks FC 4-3 in an entertaining and fiercely contested match. Bombada raced into a two-goal lead before Hawks FC fought back to draw level at 2-2. Just before the interval, Bombada restored their lead after Hawks FC were reduced to ten men.
After the restart, Hawks FC once again equalised, but Bombada FC captain Muhammad Tamba struck the decisive goal with a powerful effort that left the goalkeeper with no chance, securing all three points for the home side.
In other Division One fixtures, BST Galaxy and Falcons FC played out a 2-2 draw, while Medina United and Steve Biko also shared the spoils in a similar scoreline. Team Rhino and Gambia Dutch Lions settled for a goalless draw.
