According to a statement released by the Moroccan Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita, acting upon the instructions of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Chairman of the Al Quds Committee, signed the founding Charter of the Board of Peace on Thursday, July 22, 2026, in Davos, Switzerland. The signing ceremony was presided over by the President of the United States, H.E. Donald J. Trump.
This action follows His Majesty the King’s acceptance to join as a founding member of this U.S. presidential initiative, which aims to “bolster peace efforts in the Middle East and adopt a new approach to resolving conflicts worldwide,” the statement added.

Morocco and Bahrain were the first two countries to sign the Charter. Following their signatures, President Trump announced the Charter’s official entry into force, marking the formal establishment of the Board of Peace.
The signing ceremony, held on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos, was attended by nearly twenty heads of state and government, as well as foreign ministers from signatory countries, including Türkiye, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Egypt, Indonesia, Azerbaijan, and Argentina, among others.
Participation in the Board is reserved for a select group of leaders of international stature who are committed to ensuring a safe and prosperous future for coming generations. The invitation to Morocco reflects recognition of His Majesty the King’s enlightened leadership and his standing as a key actor for peace, the statement concluded.
