An aluminium dealer, Muhammed Tairou Jallow, on Tuesday appeared before the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court, charged with burglary, malicious damage to property, and theft.

The accused was arraigned before Principal Magistrate Sallah M’bai and took his plea in Wolof before the court. He pleaded not guilty to the charges of burglary and malicious property damage but admitted guilt to the charge of theft.

Assistant Superintendent of Police A. Touray represented the Inspector General of Police.

In narration, the prosecution disclosed that the offence was committed on December 27, 2025, at about 5:00 a.m. at a construction site in Fajara belonging to the complainant, Dozie Okezie.

He said the accused unlawfully entered the premises and removed 26 aluminum frames and seven handles, which were later sold to a scrap metal dealer, Ismaila Jallow, in Kanifing for D1,500.

The act was reportedly witnessed by Babucarr Jallow, who alerted the complainant, leading to a report being made at the Kairaba Police Station.

Police investigations revealed that the accused confessed to the offence and led officers to the scrap dealer, where all the stolen items were recovered.

Prosecutors further told the court that in the process of removing the aluminum fittings, the accused damaged windows and glass panels valued at D68,000, property of the complainant.

All recovered items were tendered and admitted in evidence. The accused was cautioned and charged after investigations were concluded.

The case was adjourned to January 8, 2026, for sentencing.
