Last year’s league champions of the Gunjur Sports Committee (GSC) summer Nawettan, Sporting General FA, have been crowned champions of the GSC Super Cup following a penalty shootout win over one of the most decorated teams in Gunjur, Red Star FC.

Red Star FC started the game brightly as they pushed against their opponents, but all efforts to break the dead were furtile. Sporting General FA’s counter attacking tactics created them several goal-scoring chances, but they also failed to utilise any.

Both sides continued to knock the door of their opponents for a breakthrough after the restart, but the defensive concentration and resoluteness of the two teams were topnotch.

The match ended in a goalless stalemate after several chances were squandered during the regulation by both sides.

The showdown was a highly tense encounter between the two formidable sides.

Sporting General FA, qualified into the Gunjur Summer Nawettan last season and went all the way to win the league for the first time. The result added accolades to their trophy cabin and celebrated the Super Cup as well for the first time in the club’s history.

Serial winners, Red Star FC, were denied by the academy boys in the first Super Cup tie between the two.
