Puntalana FC have emerged as champions of the third edition of the Brikama North Pre-Season Tournament after edging out defending champions Kabafita United in a dramatic post-match penalty shootout.
The tournament, sponsored by Hon. Alagie S. Darboe—National Assembly Member for Brikama North and Minority Leader of the Parliament—aims to promote unity, social cohesion, and community engagement within the Brikama North Constituency.
According to the Brikama Sports Committee, Hon. Darboe covered the registration fees for all 17 teams participating in the BSC Nawettan, totaling D170,000 (D10,000 per team). Additionally, he supported 10 non-affiliated villages with D5,000 each to encourage wider participation in grassroots football.
Kabafita United, winners of the previous edition, fell just short this time, losing 4-3 in the penalty shootout after a tightly contested final. Puntalana FC held their nerve to claim the title in front of an energetic crowd.
The final took place over the weekend at the Brikama Boxba Mini Stadium, bringing the curtain down on what was an exciting and competitive tournament.
