Yankuba Darboe Vows To Quit UDP if Bensouda Becomes Party Leader

By: Kemo Kanyi

Yankuba Darboe, the Chairman of Brikama Area Council (BAC) has stated that he will find his way out of the United Democratic Party if Talib Bensouda is nominated to lead the party.

He cited his discontent in a manner Talib Bensouda, the mayor of Kanifing Municipal Council (KMC) presented himself in political rallies.

The BAC Chairman alleged that the KMC Mayor is promoting his (Talib) agendas, ignoring the broader agenda of the UDP and its leader, Ousainou Darboe. He added that Bensouda is showing traits of betrayal.

“Everything that we challenge Barrow on is exactly what they are doing. Barrow used to present things in his own identity without naming the UDP. Talib is   also doing the same thing, it is not an individual effort, it is a party effort a collective contribution so no individual should present himself otherwise by giving personalized branded T-Shirts when the party goes on a campaign tour without the knowledge of other party members,” Mr. Darboe charged.

“If Talib wants to be leader of the party he must first understand team work and unity.”

Darboe adds that he is following and promoting the agenda of the party leader and the party, stating that any day Talib is nominated as the party leader, he will exit UDP.

Meanwhile, during an address to the nation last week, Bensouda urged oppositions to focus on ousting Barrow, calling on the UDP to lead that cause. He advises against division if the party is to realise its dreams of removing Barrow from presidency.
