WCR Third Division Reaches Climax

The West Coast Region (WCR) Third Division play-offs have reached their final stage, with Kunkujang Friends FC set to face Sibanor United in the much-anticipated final.

Kunkujang Friends secured their place in the final after edging out Misira United in a tense semi-final clash held at the Brikama Boxba Mini Stadium on Saturday. The match ended goalless after 90 minutes, pushing the tie to penalties, where Kunkujang triumphed 4-3.

Despite Misira enjoying a larger fan base and home turf advantage, they failed to convert their scoring chances. Kunkujang Friends held their composure and calmly dispatched their spot-kicks to seal the win.

On Sunday, Sibanor United also booked their final ticket after a dramatic 4-2 penalty shootout win over Gambinos Star Africa FA in a more open and attacking semi-final match.

Sibanor took the lead in the 40th minute through a brilliant finish by Bakary Jarju. However, Gambinos Star Africa FA refused to give in. In stoppage time, Ansumana Samura was fouled just outside the 18-yard box. He stepped up to take the resulting free kick and curled in a stunning left-footed equaliser in the 90+2 minute to force the game into penalties.

Sibanor kept their cool during the shootout and advanced with a 4-2 victory.
