Gambian writer and journalist, Lamin Sanyang has recently published a book titled “Tears of Blood”.

 

The 102-page novel Is a story of coup d’etat that was led by junior military officers in an African country. It depicts the rise of junior officers who staged a coup and were initially seen as heroes of the people. They were consumed by power and started to betray one another. But as power corrupts, they descend into brutality committing summary executions, unlawful arrests, prolonged detentions, and even enforced disappearances.

The young people started a revolution that shook the regime and eventually saved the country from the claws of dictatorship without firing a single gunshot.

Yet, what makes this story truly inspiring is the courage of the youth. Without firing a single shot, they lead a peaceful revolution that brings down a dictatorship and restores hope to their nation. It’s a story of tragedy, betrayal, but ultimately, redemption and resistance.
