26 Beach Volleyball Coaches Benefit from Technical Training

A five-day technical training course for beach volleyball coaches, organised by the Gambia National Olympic Committee (GNOC), is underway at the Baobab Hotel. The course, which began on Saturday, is expected to conclude on Wednesday, 18 June 2025.

The training aims to build the capacity of 26 local coaches by equipping them with essential technical knowledge and tools to enhance their performance and coaching standards. Sheikh Muhammed Bin Hamidah, a certified beach volleyball instructor from Qatar, is leading the sessions.

GNOC Secretary General Yero Njie described the training as a reflection of GNOC’s collective commitment to sports development and coach empowerment. “These partnerships are crucial for achieving long-term impact in our sports,” he said.

Rev. Mary Pedro-Decker, GNOC’s Technical Director, added that the course would help coaches explore their aspirations, overcome challenges, and develop tailored approaches to improve the sport locally.

Lamin A. Jammeh, 1st Vice President of the Gambia Volleyball Federation, urged the coaches to apply the knowledge gained to support their athletes. “This training is a stepping stone for a brighter future in volleyball,” he said.

Meanwhile, Mahmoud Lamin Jawla, Executive Director of the National Sports Council, encouraged participants to embrace the challenge and focus on self-improvement. He emphasised that leadership, discipline, and technical excellence are key to advancing sports in The Gambia.
