The Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) Thursday announced the registration of a new political party called the Alliance for Democracy and Development (ADD).
The new party, having fulfilled all requirements was issued with its registration certificate by the country’s electoral body.
“The Independent Electoral Commission wishes to inform the general public that after having met the requirements for registration as a political party under section 105 of the Elections Act 2009 (as amended), the Alliance for Democracy and Development (ADD) party has on this 12th day of June 2025 been duly registered as a bona fide political party in The Gambia by the Independent Electoral Commission,” IEC declares in a letter signed by its Vice Chairman, Joseph Colley.
According to the IEC, the particulars of the Alliance for Democracy and Development are Secretary General and Party Leader: Malik Camara, Party Secretariat: Brusubi Phase One, party acronym: ADD, party colours: red, above and green, below, party symbol: cotton tree surrounded by 9 people as tribes of The Gambia in a united form, and party motto: together as a nation.
