The United Democratic Party’s spokesperson for North Bank, Karamo Njie, has suggested that there’s infighting within the National People’s Party camp, saying that has vindicated his party.

Njie was speaking to The Voice newspaper in an exclusive interview on Wednesday following a diplomatic conflict of views between Gambian ambassador to Turkey, Alkali Conteh, and the minister of Foreign Affairs, Mamadou Tangara

Minister Tangara said some government appointees become stumbling blocks at embassies. This statement was sharply criticised by ambassador Alkali Conteh, saying the minister’s remark is not only myopic but a distortion as he the president also appoints cabinet ministers, ambassadors, director generals, permanent secretaries among others.

Karamo Njie, noted those who had spearheaded the parting between the UDP leader and president Adama Barrow, have now found themselves in the centre of controversy within the NPP ranks. He accused Alkali Conteh of leading what he refers to as a “cruel” initiative against the UDP.

He added that those who abandoned the UDP for Barrow are witnessing a betrayal in NPP, stating that the government has been hijacked by the former ruling APRC. He alleged that the President does not trust Alkali Conteh and his accomplishes, pointing that’s the reason most of them are sent away on foreign mission. “Just look at them. Most of them are sent to foreign embassies because they are untrustworthy and politically unreliable,” he alleged.

Njie pointed out them the “disgruntled” camp is now on the verge of forming a political party, which has visibly resulted from unsatisfied treatment they are enduring from the President and NPP militants. He said, “This has vindicated us, and everyone has seen the truth that Barrow will betrayal everyone who is close to him.’

UDP’s North Bank spokesman accused the President of tarnishing Ousainou Darboe’s whenever he (Barrow) fails to appoint anyone

“President Barrow was telling Alkali Conteh and others that I wanted to appoint to a particular position, but Ousainou Darboe didn’t want you there,” he further alleged. He called on UDP militants to stay united and focus on the mission to dethrone the Barrow administration from power.
