President Adama Barrow on Saturday inaugurated the National People’s Party (NPP) National Headquarters in Bundung, describing it as a lasting symbol of progress and unity for the ruling party.

The event, attended by party stalwarts, supporters, and dignitaries, marked the culmination of a multi-year effort to establish a permanent home for the NPP’s operations. The three-storey building will serve as the nerve centre for both the national and Kanifing Municipal branches.

In his address, President Barrow celebrated the milestone as a testament to the party’s dedication to institutionalizing politics in The Gambia. “This building is more than bricks and mortar,” he said. “It is a home for every Gambian who believes in progress, peace, and prosperity.”

Barrow recalled the NPP’s founding vision: to build a political party that belongs to all Gambians, regardless of age, gender, or background. He emphasized that the party’s growth was driven by the commitment of its members and supporters across the country.

He highlighted the party’s achievements, citing improved infrastructure, clean water supply, expanded educational facilities, and access to electricity as examples of the NPP’s efforts to uplift communities. “We are building a strong institution that nurtures young leaders and delivers of our people from hardship to peace and stability,” he declared.

Barrow also paid tribute to the party’s grassroots efforts, acknowledging the role of women and youth in sustaining the NPP’s momentum. “This is a party built by the people, for the people,” he said.

The headquarters houses administrative offices, a multipurpose hall, and meeting rooms dedicated to key party figures. Officials say it will enhance transparency, inclusivity, and coordination at all levels.

Barrow urged party members to remain united and focused on the party’s core mission: to serve The Gambia. “This is more than a building,” he concluded. “It is a beacon of hope and a pillar of democracy for all generations.”

The NPP leadership has extended an invitation to all Gambians to visit the new headquarters and learn more about the party’s vision for the future.
