Sometimes, we wonder whether the Barrow administration truly understands and hears the pains and wails of the Gambian population.
From the security to water sectors, electricity to commodity price domains, the cries of the Gambian population are getting shriller and louder by each passing day.
As the situation threatens to get from bad to catastrophic, we here at The Voice wonder whether this dispensation is aware of this worrying state of affairsdue to the utterances of the regime’s supporters and the President himself. The President and his supporters are eager to jump at any opportunity to tout that The Gambia has gone too far under Mr. Barrow in terms of development.
It’s, however, important to enlighten the government that many of their policies have yet to make life liveable for Gambians and that the various sectors of the economyare apparently going to the dogs.
Inflation is sweeping many Gambians deeper down the poverty line while epileptic power and erratic water supply have become constant sources of suffering, exasperation and health concerns for Gambians.
The water issue has become so worse that it’s not onlya source of health concern for many but it’s also seeping into religion as many find it tough to purify themselves before worship.
Schools and workplaces are also feeling the excruciating pains of this water dearth.
The water insecurity is also burdening many Gambians, economically as they spend more cash on bottled water.
No nation can boast of development without reliable water and electricity supply.
