Gambian Guardian Intelligence Donates Security Gadgets to GPF

Gambian Guardian Intelligence and Investigative Service on Thursday donated security gadgets to the Gambia Police Force (GPF) Scientific Support Unit at a ceremony held at the GPF Headquarters in Banjul.

The donated items are meant to empower security officers with modern equipment for crime investigations and crime scene management tools.

Deputy Inspector General, Momodou Sowe, who spoke on behalf of the Inspector General of Police, extolled the Gambian Guardian Intelligence and Investigative Service for the gesture saying the donation is timely and will go a long way in helping them combat crimes.

He said the items would add value to the work of the police force, particularly in strengthening investigative procedures and evidence collection.

“We are in the 21st century where technology is advanced so it is vital to catch up with technology to do what is expected from us. These items will boost our capacity and our effectiveness. I urged the scientific unit to make the best use of the items,” he appealed.

The Deputy Inspector quickly challenged other sectors to imitate the Gambian Guardian Intelligence and Investigative Service since the government cannot do it alone.

Omar Tunkara, on behalf of the organization, said the Gambia Guardian Intelligence and Investigative Service is an organization that strives to help improve security and complement government efforts in the reformation of the criminal justice system and making sure justice to whom it is due.

He opined that the organization is proud to donate the items showing their contribution to national development and help the GPF in carrying out their duties with limited lapses. He added that the donation marks a significant step for the Gambia Police Force (GPF) in its ongoing efforts to enhance public safety and security through improved investigative capabilities.

However, the donated items include evidence bags, crime scene evidence markers, a Camera for taking pictures at crime scenes, shoe covers, a swab with tube and labels for collecting DNA samples or blood sampling, tire and footprint casting frames, 15g luminal powder reagent, blood finding revealing agent, crime scene footprint casting.

Other items included heavy-duty full-body protective suits, plastic gloves, microscope slides, and covers, blank glass slides for microscopy experiments and analysis, UV black light flashlight small backlight, flashlights, pen lights for detecting blood and other fluids at crime scenes, basic latent fingerprint kit, dichromatic, crime scene Do Not Cross barricade tape 3 inch X 1000 feet, adhesive evidence label 4 X 6 Inches – Stick on Evidence Stickers.
