GPF Officer Identifies Accused Person, Stolen Metals from GamtelBy Mustapha Jarju

A member of Gambia Police Force (GPF) Sergeant Babanding Jarju 3591 has on Thursday identified an accused person, a Nigerian national Alo Clement and alleged stolen irons from Gamtel a government telecommunications parastatal .Sergeant Jarju made this identification during cross -examination by police prosecutor Sergeant Fatty in Kanifing Magistrate Court presided over by principal Magistrate Mben Faal. 

Alo Clement who stands accused is facing one count charge of stealing three metal manholes belonging to Gamtel. 

“On the 20th of September I was on duty at the KanifingPIU at  early hours of the morning around 6AM to 8AM one man came to us and said  that they have apprehended some suspects who are stealing irons from the Gamntel manholes”,  he told the court.

He added that upon arrival at the alleged scene of crime, three suspects attempted to escape but they ran out of luck and they were arrested and conveyed to the Police Intervention Unit (PIU) head office. 

On the side of the accused person Alo Clement, when asked by police prosecutor Sergeant Fatty whether he recognized the irons before the court as exhibits he replied that they were sold to him by unknown persons whom he claimed to be aluminum dealers. 

After that mini court drama, Magistrate Faal admitted the three metals as exhibits and the testimonies of the prosecution witness and the accused person as evidences.
