Government neglects youth, reason unjustifiable – Oustas Bai Cham

 Oustas Bai Cham, the Principal of Al-Mukhtar Islamic School, Wellingara has lamented that the Gambian youths are neglected by Government and the reason is unjustifiable.

 In an interview with this medium, Cham said the youths should be empowered they are the future leaders. “A country cannot progress without the youths if not the country will be in darkness and the rate of unemployment among youth is very high,” he said.

However, he claimed that the way Islam is being sidelined in most forms going by what is seen is high saying, there is no Arabic University, Senior or Junior School built by the government.

 Oustass Cham stressed that the government is building schools for English students and that all the students including Arabic are equal in the country in all aspects. He added that 90% of the country is Muslim and they should build more Arabic schools for equal rights.

Meanwhile, he said the lack of good roads and the high cost of basic food commodities and others is a concern. “Islam taught us how to live and how to govern. Religious leaders have the right to speak on State Affairs as far as the plight of the people is concerned.”

 He, therefore, called on religious leaders to speak on the issues affecting the country to allow the government to find out solutions, adding that the President should be guided by Religious leaders in terms of making certain decisions.
